Partners bring Affordable Housing to Kemptville

Release Date: Jan 25 2021

On September 25th 2020, we welcomed many representatives on site at Jack St. to celebrate the opening of our affordable housing development.

Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and Local MPP, Steve Clarke, and our MP, Michael Barrett, made the official announcement of the provincial and federal contribution to the project. The funding in the amount of $1.485 million was provided to purchase the property on Jack St., that included a 2 storey duplex, and also construct 9 additional town home units.

A project that started more than 2 years ago would not have been possible without the many partners at all levels of government and local organizations. Our relationship with the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, and the support of our local Municipality was integral in seeing this project off the ground. Both County Warden , Pat Sayeau, and Local
Mayor of North Grenville, Nancy Peckford, were in attendance as well to share their support, and recognize the critical need for more affordable housing in
our area.

We are thankful to have partnered with Lockwood Brothers Construction, a well-known quality builder in our community. Community Living North Grenville took possession of the units July 31, 2020. The majority of units have been rented. Seniors, families, people we support and local residents are settling into their new homes.

Rent for these units is 80% of average market rent. The average market rent is defined by the United Counties on an annual basis.  Although these units are not rent geared to income (RGI), tenants must meet the RGI annual income threshold to be eligible. Applications are available by contacting our local Administration Office.

We, at Community Living, are pleased and proud to see our development to fruition and to be able to provide a place to live for so many people.
